Why Highland Haven Creekside Inn Is One of Colorado’s Best Intimate Wedding Venues

If you’re dreaming of exchanging vows surrounded by towering pines, a rushing creek, and cozy mountain cabins, Highland Haven Creekside Inn in Evergreen, Colorado, is one of my favorite places for an intimate wedding or elopement.

Just about 30 minutes from Denver, this hidden mountain retreat feels worlds away from the city. Instead of ballrooms and busy resorts, you’ll find handcrafted cabins, winding garden paths, beautiful creekside spaces, and an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down and actually enjoy your wedding day.

K and D chose Highland Haven for exactly that reason. They wanted a wedding that felt relaxed, meaningful, and centered around the people they love most.

Their day was the perfect reminder that you don’t need hundreds of guests or an elaborate venue to create something unforgettable.

Where Is Highland Haven Creekside Inn?

Highland Haven Creekside Inn is tucked into the mountain town of Evergreen, Colorado, along Bear Creek. The property offers cozy accommodations, beautiful gardens, and several intimate ceremony locations, all within walking distance of downtown Evergreen. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Denver and roughly 15 minutes from Red Rocks Amphitheatre, making it convenient for both local couples and those traveling into Colorado.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Highland Haven

One of my favorite things about Highland Haven is how naturally the day flows.

Instead of constantly loading into cars and driving between locations, nearly everything happens within walking distance.

You can:

  • Get ready inside one of the beautiful suites
  • Have a first look beneath the trees
  • Exchange vows beside Bear Creek
  • Celebrate with family in the Dailey Cabin
  • Sneak away for sunset portraits around the property
  • End the evening around the fire or with champagne

As a photographer, this means less time spent traveling and more time documenting real moments together.

Is Highland Haven Creekside Inn Better for an Elopement Weekend or an Intimate Wedding?

Honestly, both.

One of the things I love most about Highland Haven Creekside Inn is that it isn’t just a wedding venue. It’s a place where you can truly slow down and make a weekend out of your celebration.

K and D chose to stay on the property for their elopement weekend, giving them plenty of time to soak in the peaceful mountain setting before and after they exchanged vows. Instead of rushing through a single day, they were able to enjoy cozy mornings, quiet walks along Bear Creek, and uninterrupted time together with the people they love most.

If you’re planning an elopement for just the two of you, staying at the inn creates an incredibly romantic and private experience. And if you’re inviting immediate family and close friends, Highland Haven is equally perfect for an intimate wedding. The Dailey Cabin accommodates seated events for around 22 guests (or up to about 25 for cocktail-style gatherings), while the creekside gardens provide beautiful outdoor ceremony spaces.

Because the venue was intentionally designed for smaller celebrations, it never feels oversized or impersonal the way larger wedding venues sometimes can. Instead, it invites you to slow down, stay awhile, and turn your wedding into an unforgettable mountain getaway.

Things to Do Around Evergreen

One reason I love recommending Highland Haven is that it turns your wedding into an entire weekend experience.

Nearby you’ll find:

  • Evergreen Lake
  • Downtown Evergreen shopping
  • Local coffee shops
  • Hiking trails
  • Scenic mountain drives
  • Colorado-style pizza
  • Red Rocks Amphitheatre
  • Denver (30 minutes away)

Whether your guests stay for one night or several, there’s plenty to explore before or after your celebration.

Why Evergreen Is Perfect for Couples Who Want Mountains Without the Crowds

While places like Rocky Mountain National Park are absolutely stunning, they can also be busy, require permits, and involve more logistics.

Evergreen offers:

  • mountain scenery
  • towering pines
  • beautiful creeks
  • intimate venues
  • easy accessibility
  • less crowded locations
  • a relaxed atmosphere

It’s an incredible option for couples who want Colorado’s beauty without spending their entire wedding day driving or hiking.
